The best Instagram follower trackers in 2026
The best Instagram follower tracker depends on whose account you want to watch. To see who another public account follows and unfollows, The Ick scores highest in our comparison, ahead of Snoopreport. To clean up your own followers, FollowMeter is the strongest of the login-based apps, but every app in that group needs your Instagram password.

What an Instagram follower tracker can and can’t do
Instagram shows an account’s followers and following lists, but not when anyone was added or removed. A follower tracker fills that gap by checking an account again and again and recording the differences. That gives you a dated history: who an account started following, who it unfollowed, and who followed or left it.
What no legitimate tracker can do:
- See private accounts. Without being an approved follower, nobody can see a private account’s lists.
- Show who viewed a profile. Instagram doesn’t share profile visits with anyone.
- Show history from before tracking started. A tracker can only date changes it saw happen. Instagram’s own list order is a rough hint at best.
Tools that promise any of these are guessing or making it up. More on that in our safety guide.
Own account or someone else’s?
Trackers fall into two groups, and most bad purchases come from mixing them up.
Apps for your own account (FollowMeter, Reports+) ask you to log in with Instagram, then show who unfollowed you, who doesn’t follow back and who never engages. They can’t watch anyone else.
Trackers for other public accounts (The Ick, Snoopreport, DolphinRadar, IGDetective, FollowSpy, Recent Follow) take a username and watch that profile from the outside. Most don’t need your Instagram login at all. This is what people usually mean when they search for an Instagram following tracker: seeing who a partner, friend, ex or competitor recently followed.
How to choose
- Decide whose account it is. Your own, or a public account you don’t control.
- Avoid sharing your Instagram password unless you accept the risk of locks and verification loops.
- Check how often it updates and whether it alerts you. A weekly report and a same-day alert are very different products.
- Read the price before you sign up. Weekly subscriptions add up fast, so work out the monthly cost.
- Check the store rating, not the one on the tool’s website. We’ve seen sites quote ratings their store listings don’t match.
